How do I keep the bathroom clean?
- Remove hair from drains after each shower.
- Use bathroom cleaner weekly on all surfaces.
- Use separate cloths for the toilet, sink and shower.
How do I reduce condensation and mould in my Cheltenham student house?
To prevent mould, ventilate rooms regularly and avoid drying clothes on radiators. Keep heating consistent around 18°C and use extractor fans when cooking or showering.

Do I need to pay council tax?
Full-time students are exempt from council tax. Provide your exemption certificate to Cheltenham Borough Council. Part-time students or professionals may be eligible for a discount.
What happens if I pay my rent late?
Rent payments more than 14 days late will incur interest at 3% above the Bank of England’s base rate, as outlined in your tenancy agreement.
What happens on moving-in day?
Before moving in, make sure you’ve paid your deposit and first month’s rent. Our inventory agent will contact the lead tenant to arrange key collection. You’ll also receive an inventory to sign confirming the property’s condition.
Who is responsible for damages in my Cheltenham student house?
- In your room: You’re responsible for any damage you or your guests cause.
- In communal areas: If no one admits responsibility, repair costs may be split equally among all tenants.

What should I do if I lock myself out?
- During working hours (9am–3pm): Message us for help.
- Outside hours: Try your housemates or stay with a friend until you can regain access.
When can I contact you if I have an issue?
Our hours are 9am–3pm, Monday to Friday. Please only call outside these hours in an emergency.
Why is my fire alarm beeping?
This usually means the battery is low — tenants are responsible for replacing it.
Moving Out
What happens on moving-out day?
- Clean the property to the same standard as when you moved in.
- Remove all personal belongings and repair or pay for any damage.
- Ensure the garden is tidy and bins are empty.
An inventory agent will conduct a checkout inspection.
When will I get my deposit back?
Once the checkout inspection is complete and any deductions agreed, your deposit will be refunded through the government-approved deposit scheme used for your tenancy.
